Symposium on family protection orders in the Pacific region - Call for expressions of interest
The Australian National University, in conjunction with the Pacific Community (SPC), is planning to convene a virtual symposium on family protection orders in the Pacific region on 9 December 2021.
Family protection orders have been introduced across the Pacific through domestic violence legislation in the past decade or so. We believe it is time to share our experience and knowledge of how well the orders are working, what the challenges are, and to agree on future priorities for action.
We are inviting expressions of interest from groups or individuals who would like to present individually or to organise a panel on a topic related to family protection orders.
We are eager to cover a wide range of countries and sectors. The invitation is open to organisations, networks and individuals who work as practitioners, professionals, volunteers or researchers.
Individual speakers would be expected to speak for 10 minutes, and where possible, to submit a paper before the symposium. Our aim is to produce a publication as an outcome of the symposium.
Please submit a short abstract with a title, and summary of who you are or what you represent to Lindy Kanan (lindy.kanan@anu.edu.au) and Dr Judy Putt (judy.putt@anu.edu.au) by Tuesday 19th of October (new extended deadline). We plan to have a draft program by Friday the 5th of November.
