Bougainville young women’s leadership research
The Bougainville Young Women’s Leadership Research report, launched at the State of the Pacific conference in September, was the outcome of a research collaboration between Richard Eves, head of SSGM’s Gender, Health, Social Development and Migration cluster, the International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) and the Bougainville Women’s Federation. Richard was responsible for designing the research, training the researchers and co-writing the report with Isobel Koredong, the lead researcher from the Bougainville Women’s Federation.
A dozen young Bougainvillean women were trained in qualitative research methods and then undertook fieldwork in six districts covering the three regions of Bougainville. After this data collection, Richard returned to Bougainville to work with the researchers in data analysis.
