The Australian Seasonal Worker Program (SWP) andNew Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE)scheme are government policies that aim to encourageeconomic development in the Pacific through variousforms of remittances (financial, material and social)that workers take home. Evidence from New Zealandand Canada shows that migrants involved in seasonalworker schemes not only provide a reliable source oflabour which boosts productivity; their incomes alsoencourage economic growth in host communities.
